Privacy Policy

Study progress is stored on your device. If you sign in, the app also syncs that progress through Cloudflare. Social features store account details, messages, and game activity on our server. AI chat sends the messages you submit to Cloudflare Workers AI to generate a reply. To limit abuse, the AI endpoint also applies a daily request cap using a rotating hash of the requesting IP address; the raw address is not stored by that limiter and the hash expires after two days.

We do not show advertising, we do not use analytics or tracking pixels, and we do not sell your data. Ever.

Everything that follows is stored in your browser's localStorage(on the website) or the app's built-in WebView storage (on Android). Signed-in progress is also synced to our server (see below). Social and game features send the information needed for those features when you use them.

• Your selected target language (Russian, German, Korean…).
• Your spaced-repetition state for each word and exercise: due dates, success/failure history, intervals.
• Your flashcard streaks, daily review counters, and daily goal.
• Per-language history snapshots used by the Stats and History tabs.
• Read/favourite state for idioms and proverbs.
• Your theme preference (light or dark).

Settings → Reset learning progress on this device clears local learning progress. You can also clear browser or app storage. This control does not delete server-side account, social, or synced records; contact us to request their deletion.

PolyParle offers optional sign-in for cross-device progress sync. A device account is also created when you choose a username to use friends, servers, games, missions, and notifications. Sign-in is not required to use the app.

If you choose to sign in:

• Authentication is handled by Clerk. They process your email address, name, and any sign-in identifier you provide (Google account, magic link, etc.) per Clerk's own privacy policy.
• Progress sync uses Cloudflare D1 (a database on Cloudflare's servers). The synced bundle includes your saved learning state and preferences. Social features also store your username, display name, friendships, club and server membership, text messages, game results, and notifications.

To request deletion of synced or social data, email [email protected] and asking us to delete your account.

The PolyParle website and app assets are served by Cloudflare. When your device fetches the app code, audio clips, or images, Cloudflare necessarily sees the IP address making the request and standard HTTP request headers, the same as any website. Cloudflare retains this data per its own privacy policy.

• We do not run third-party advertising or ad networks.
• We do not embed Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking script.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with marketers.
• Voice chat requests microphone access when you choose to join a voice room. We do not store the audio in our database.
• We do not request contacts, location, camera, files, or calendar access.
• We do not use cookies for tracking. Any data the app stores is purely for the app's own function.

PolyParle is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The optional sign-in flow is only intended for users old enough to create accounts on Google or other identity providers (typically 13+).

If a parent or guardian believes a child under 13 has created an account, contact [email protected] and we will delete the account and any associated data.

Wherever you live, you have the right to:

• See what we have.Local data is visible in the app itself (Vocabulary, Stats, History). For an account, email us and we'll send you everything we hold.
• Delete it. Reset learning progress on this device clears local learning progress. Email us to request deletion of synced, account, and social data.
• Take it with you. Email us for an export of your progress in machine-readable JSON.

Residents of the EU/UK (GDPR), California (CCPA), and similar regimes have additional statutory rights. To exercise any of them, email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.

Local data lives on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Server-side account, social, game, and synced data is retained until deletion is requested. We have not implemented automatic inactive-account deletion.

The app runs on your device. When signed in, synced data lives on Cloudflare's globally distributed infrastructure; Cloudflare may process your request in any of its data centres for performance. Clerk authentication data is processed wherever Clerk operates.

If we change anything material, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, if you have an account, we will provide notice through the app where practical.
